The calm before the storm.....

Postby deertoducks » Mon Oct 29, 2012 4:13 pm

After having quite a few really good early season scoter hunts and a perfect marine forecast before the storm this past Saturday, we decided to head north in search for some Eiders. We had little movement of birds at first light and started second guessing our decision, though we only had one hen eider in the boat the first half hour of legal shooting it was already worth the long trip out since it was sporting a very worn band that we will probably never get the info on due to the heavy wear on 3 digits making it impossible for us to get the full band number. Then it happened....... out of no where.... absolute eider frenzy. We all shot well and as usual Pete earned his keep, making multiple double and triple retrieves. Another great day on the ocean with good friends.

That looks like a great time! Never been sea ducking. Congrats on that band. I hope you can get that band info!

lay the band out flat and take another pic of it. Then blow it up on your computer, you will be surprised what you can make out. I do this with old equipment tags all the time.
