A great day on the river with a surprise!

No, no bands.. the surprise is that we actually got out limits and on top of that, they were one of my favorite little birds to hunt.

Second season, we always bring the buffie decoys, no matter where we go. Besides the coast, we see them in rivers, swamps, and lakes so better safe than sorry.

We saw very, very few drakes. Was really trying for them so I could do a special mount with a few of them flying (extra taxidermy practice for me too) but I settled for my first ever limit of ducks (actually, both of our first total limits).

Congrats Justin  I only see 11 birds there, am I missing one? Looks like a fun hunt.

Thanks!
We lost one that dove 100 times (may have rounded up haha). Laid there with its wing up in the air after one of the many follow up shots and then it unexpectedly dove for a final time... Still counted it in for the bag, even though it is not in the fridge...

Nice! We thought we had a couple buffies coming in at one point... turned out to be a pair of kingfishers. :lol3:
