Anyone hunt there?? if so is it boat hunting only and how was it?

I've hunted it for 30 yrs used to be great in the day. Now we nick named it Death Valley!!!!!!!! Lack of ducks until everything totally freezes over except for the res. Can be hunted from shore in specific areas you can obtain a map from the state park office.

As Mike said...... It used to be good, now dead valley is the appropriate name. Be prepared for a very long day.

Yea, place is a duck ghost town, but once in a while you get lucky. Here are a couple of pics from over the years there.

I hunt spruce run pretty much on the regular and have for many of years. There are plenty of birds there you just have to put in the time to scout it out. Large numbers of resident goose roost there. As far as ducks go I can tell you they are there in some low lying areas even with how dry it has been. Get a map from the park office designating restricted areas and pull up google earth. You will be surprised with numbers of wood ducks and teal
