To stir things up, how about hunting sundays. I know there are strong feelings on this, here are mine. Nearly impossible for me to hunt weekdays. I am sure most hunters with careers (& family) struggle to get out as much as can, but nearly as much as they would like. Why not open hunting on Sunday. Offset this with closing a day during the week. Surely this serves more hunters than not. Would allow a "rest" day for birds with minimal impact on hunters schedules.
I would go further and propose closing two days during the week and use the resulting extra days gained to stretch the season. Seems to me some innovative thinking can make a larger portion of the participants more active in the sport. (of course if I EVER get to retire, i'm sure the current setup would be OK )
