I am headed to waretown nj to visit my grandparents for thanksgiving. I want to try and do some duck and or goose hunting. I am from georgia, I have a dog and can bring a boat up if need be. I think I will be up there from the 20th till the 25th. I have no clue where to start or what to bring. I sure would appreciate any help I can get.

I would love to get on a brant hunt. If any of ya'll have a private lease I may be willing to swap a redfishing trip or quail hunt. Is the striper bite any good at this time? Thanks for any help

The marsh land is public game land so you can pick your spot and hunt, as long as you do it by the rules and your not in a refuge or on private land. The Mapquest "aerial image" (satellite shot) is very detailed and you can zoom in to incredible detial :

Considering you will be in a great location (Barnaget Bay) you can find some easy to get to spots, especially south of Waretown. Just do a little research. The water is typically shallow (1-4 feet) but there are some deep channels as well. You can find a launch area in your location here:

You also need to check your tides - a blow out low tide could have you sitting in mud for hours and you don't want to try and walk any distance in the mud down there :

If you want brant, move out away from the inshore side of the marshes and you will see divers as well. The inshore side usually gets more puddlers.

My wife is from Georgia, so I figured I give a brotha a hand. I'd show you myself, but I will be hunting in MD over Thanksgiving. Good luck and feel free to post any other questions.
