Weather and Ducks

Postby LeakyBoot » Wed Dec 11, 2013 8:21 am

This current cold snap should move alot of ducks to the Coastal Zone. It's nice to get cold and ice before the shortest day of the year, less daylight should mean more ice.
It's time to get out that diver rig and hunt some salt water!

If you don't see more ducks now.. well then there are just less ducks.

I'm just looking for a little weather to give me some shooting - my last three outings were on very calm, mild days and the skies were empty. I could hear all the happy ducks lounging around but they had no reason to join me. I thought yesterday might have been the day but at launch time the winds were calm and the skies clear of precip. Then the phone rings at 7 and I get called into work!...of course it was dead low at 7 and the boat was hi and dri, sometimes the bear EATS you!!!

That sucks Pete, I had the opposite yesterday. Got let off work early because of the "storm". Couldn't keep the black ducks away from us. Image

Thanks buddy, me and Cole made a game time decision and got to the coast with about an hour of shooting time left. Karl met us at the ramp and turned out to be a good time. We're not dropping banded birds like you but we do ok;D

Lot of weather today, but my youngest son stuck it out for a solid two hours before a very strong east wind got him cold. Naturally as I was pulling sled back to car two black ducks flew right over our heads. Such is life. It was cold today in the wind so two hours was more then I expected.
