I am new to the area and plan to head out to the Black River on the opener. I don't want to screw opening day up for anyone, but at the same time, I'd like to get a few ducks. Plan is to put in my canoe off of the Pleasant Hill bridge and go upriver with a small spread of dekes. Will I be facing a lot of pressure in this direction? I guess I need to scout some alternatives, but would appreciate any guidance.
Thanks for a great forum.

Welcome to the area! I'm right up the road on Schooley's mtn. I been hunting BR for 35 yrs. If you are headed to BR on the 13th be ready for a gang of skybusters, overcalling(badly) people. Last year 1st day in the afternoon I counted 16 trucks/cars parked by the river. Us locals AVOID BR until the ice forms & the fair weather duck hunters are back to chasin deer & pheasants.
