Hunted on Manahawkin Bay sat morning. Weatherman called for Northeast wind- WRONG. It blew northwest so plan A was out. We tucked in to a small island and had a little lee from the wind. 5 minutes before shooting time a drake broadbill crashed into the spread. He looked around and left. About 1 minute before shooting time 4 blacks sat down but immedietly left. Saw quite a few birds. For once the buffies didn't even look at the decoys. We ended the day with a hen mallard and 3 brant with a miss at a black duck. Had to quit at 10 when the wind really came up.
