Dona Ana County - Desert Ducks (near Las Cruces)

Postby huntingcrazy » Sat Dec 05, 2009 11:28 pm

Ducks in the desert Near Las Cruces.
Not a ton of ducks around, but I did manage a TRIPLE. Three shots at a flock of five and three ducks landed all around me!
Such a great feeling, especially since this is the first time I have hunted ducks all year!

I'm from Las Cruces originally, and plan on heading down there in a couple of weeks. What do people do down there? Just go along the river? I'm planning on going out for my first duck hunt soon and just trying to pick up a few pointers since I don't really know anything about duck hunting.

yup there are a few ducks on the Rio down here. fun enough but hard to get a limit. we usually try deeks at fisrt light but only get some better passing shots that way. we dont see many other hunters. we are patient and sometimes it works great, sometimes we dont get any while blinded. we often times have to walk a bit to jump em to make the day not a waste but we have plenty of fun
