Postby mikeyschk518 » Sun Apr 02, 2006 4:15 pm

just out of plain curiosity, since we're moving just yet.......does anyone know if there is any good duck/quail/pheasant, hunting, etc...in the area of catron county or neighboring areas????? i'm not asking for anyone's spots, just if anyone happens to know the areas at all
thanks in advance for any info you have!

You will have some good quail areas and some very good turkey areas nearby. There some Blue Grouse up in the Gila but I don't hunt that far south. You may have to do some scouting but you will find birds depending on the species you seek. Pheasants can be found along the Rio Grande corridor and is pretty much hit and miss for them. Dove abound in the area so you may see them. Band Tails also are in the area but you have to go up a little higher for them. Now for big game, you are very close to superb mulie and elk country.

Bienvenidos.

I just noticed where you are from. I have got a first cousin living in Bremerton. Her husband works on some naval instalation there. She has always invited me to come on up so I can fly fish the area. One day.

the only reason why i'm here is because my boyfriend is on shore duty in the navy. after he gets out we're moving, we can't stand it here. not for the outdoors stuff, but everything else just sucks. washington isn't very price friendly to non residents for hunting/fishing licenses, so if you do go, be prepared to lighten your wallet
