Do most people have a problem with Shovelers having Rice Brest? We started shooting one every once in a while down hear and it seems about 30% of them have it. Are we just unlucky? Is rice Brest safe to eat?

(To be fair we have a VERY small test sample, but if it is a problem we would rather go back to not shooting them)

Its been my luck that pintails or a cross with pintails have rice breast.I count them toward my limit, but I don't eat.
Is it a problem in general hear then? This is the first time we have ever even come across rice breast, and is it just a coincidence that it has been the Shovelers? could it be it is just where we are hunting the birds have it?

It has set off a red flag to get so many that have it so close together considering it is the first season we have seen it at all.

Thank you for the link.

For the record though, we have never left any type of bird in the field, ever. and if you where to throw infected birds in the trash in ut every seagull in the state would get this rice breast. it is a lose lose for sure
