Well after spending every weekend for the past 5 weeks chasing after those dang turkeys, I finally bagged one. Nothing amazing, just a jake, but it was a good size one at least. Too bad I don't have a scale but i'd guess maybe 14 lbs. The beard was definintely a shorty,, maybe 4". But it was my first turkey ever, so I'm not out to impress anyone. The only problem is I found out that turkey addiction is just as bad as duck addiction. Someone should really start a support group for us.
The birds up north are gobbling real well right now, quite a change from just two weeks ago. Too bad the season only goes a few more days or i'd be chasing them for weeks. At least I can get back to fly fishing now. I'll post pics when i find the stupid cable i need in the mess i call my desk.
