Early Bird Report

Postby lindschesapeake » Wed Jun 13, 2007 7:20 am

Observations from kayaking/canoeing most northern and southern rivers:
- most river areas have good habitat going into breeding season
- lots of back waters off of rivers
- fair amount of ponded water around the state
- good hatches of ducks and appears Canada hatches are real good
- river flows dropping quickly

Lake reports later

I was up on the Chama last weekend. Only floated a mile or so down the river and saw two pairs of Canadas with goslings and a pair of mallards. Lots of little side channels with water in them. Should be a good year.
