The last few days have been pretty tough in the southern part of the state. Stale birds, zero wind, and pretty warm temps are making the birds sit pretty tight. Luckily, there's been a bunch of teal around to salvage things. Had a good friend out for a week of chasing deer and ducks. We saw one really nice buck(I'd guess in the 150-160" range) and one other shooter...no rutting action at all where we were. Walked our asses off for 2.5 days and he wanted to start chasing ducks.
He killed his Mexican duck and a stud of a pintail and got to see more big ducks in 3-4 days of hunting than he will in a few years of hunting in SC, so he was happy. I think we ended up with 34 birds in 4 hunts. Not as good as I was hoping for for him, or as good as it has been the whole rest of the season, but the weather(or lack there of) really kicked us in the nuts. 7 days of going non-stop from daylight till dark has me worn slap out.
