NICE FOGGY MORNING HUNT

Postby capt.dennis » Tue Jan 15, 2013 8:21 am

WE HAD DOUG SR,DOUG AND 13 YR OLD BEN OUT FOR A COMBO HUNT. IT WAS A NICE FOGGY DAY WITH LIGHT SW WINDS. AT SHOOTING TIME SOME MALLARDS WERE MISSED THEN THE GUYS WERE NAILING FAST MOVING BUFFLEHEADS. 13 YR OLD BEN WAS ON FIRE SHOWING HIS DAD AND GRANDPA HOW TO SHOOT! AND HE WAS USING A LIGHT 20 GA! WE THEN HAD ACTION WITH MERGANSERS, A DRAKE GOLDEN EYE BUZZED US BUT WAS UNSCATHED.THEN I CALLED IN A FLOCK OF GEESE AND BEN WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT CONNECTED LOL DROPPING 1. THEN I CALLED IN ANOTHER FLOCK AND WE GOT 3 MORE. A PAIR OF WIDGEON CAME INTO THE SPREAD AND THEY MADE QUICK WORK OF THEM. THEY ARE OFF TO THE TAXIDERMIST.THEN WE WERE INUNDATED WITH BLUEBILLS FOR THE REST OF DAY. WE GOT A BONUS FOX ON THIS HUNT AS WELL FOR A NICE DAY OUT.

GOOD HUNTING!

It was an awesome hunt. Don't forget, we had shots at Brant and Old Squaw too. There was even a single black duck that paddled in to the edge of the spread, just as the blue bills came flying in.

Talk about a mixed bag, we saw it all.

That drake/hen widgeon pair was awesome. Ben has a spot on his wall picked out for them. I'm so proud of him, he really showed us up good with that little 20ga youth 11-87.

The fog was perfect, just enough vis to see em comin while keeping us pretty well hidden.

Was cool to see Ranger pick up that Deek that drifted too as the tide came in.

What an awesome day, thanks Capt. Dennis !!
