hey has anyone ever had to register a homemade trailer??? how hard is it to do and how do i do it???

i know this sounds like a newb question but ive always have had a reg laying around.... not no more lol

It's really very easy. You need to have the trailer weighed empty and take that with you. I did it once but am drawing a blank in what else I had to do. I think I took the weight in, filled out some paperwork and they gave me a vin number.

you get it weighed, take that slip with you to the DMV and fill out a form. they will cut you a vin# for it and a registration. they will also require you to put the vin on the trailor. It's easy enough that it makes me wonder how many trailors are stolen each year and reregistered as homemades with a new vin.
