Decent Hunt Sunday

Postby cobber » Mon Sep 25, 2006 6:32 am

Finally, got in my 1st real goose field hunt of the season this past Sunday. Wasn't in the best spot, but was able to get some birds to work. Ended the morning with 3, but most importantly my Lab (Crunch) performed great. Her 1st time for field goose retrieves.

Could have been greedy and taken more, but wanted to make sure Crunch marked the birds.

Will post a picture if I can figure it out.

good question - Yes, I like hockey but that is not where the name came from. We have 2 chocolate labs. They are one month apart in age (a little over 2 year now). The 1st was named Nestle... and yes Crunch was the second.

Both great dogs, but crunch has been the better hunter / retriever. Neslte is slightly gun shy, I need to get her out for a day where she can associate the gun noise with the retrieve and only take single shots (yes, I'm asking for a lot). Since moving to NY I have hunted alone, so it is tough to shoot and keep her watching the birds at the same time.
