New York goose hunting and duck hunting. This is the place to discuss it all.

When I was in scouts I canoed the Raquette River for my 50 miler in the summer, I remember seeing plenty of wildlife but can't really remember specifically seeing a lot of waterfowl, don't know if it is just me not remembering or if they just weren’t there. Well I am thinking of doing this trip again during duck season and thought I would ask if anyone has ever hunted the river and if there is a good amount of birds. I have hunted the ADK's a few times and done alright but what people always say is that there is too much water and the birds spread out to much. Any advice or personal experiences would be great. Thanks in advance.

I've seen waterfowl on the river but not really anything worth setting up to hunt. I would check the mouth of long lake or around Tupper. That might be where you'll see larger concentrations of birds. I do know the pike fishing on the river is great though.
