Slack's Pistol Update

Postby Slack Tide » Sat Aug 24, 2013 6:36 am

So we are at the 6 month and 3 week mark since I applied (as you know)...

My wife got a phone call from the Investigator yesterday.

The message said "yeah, this is officer X and I'm just checking to see if it's ok with you that your husband gets a pistol...my number is xxx and you can just leave a message with your response if you don't get me....all that's left is to call his Principal and we can get this thing wrapped up.".

So neither of my references have been called....and my wife and (black, female, young) Principal are basically the ones who decide (based on their responses)

Is this crazy or what?

Yikes. What county is this? Seems a little excessive.

It isn't like we didn't warn you.

And yet the designer drug market on the Island is booming..home invasions are WAY up.....looting after Sandy...Nassau cops broke last year's record for firing their service weapon (up from the year and year before that)...

In the end..I am not an alarmist or into conspiracy theories etc...but it just makes me crazy that this process is the way it is. And what's crazier is how there is ZEEEERO oversight in many/most other states...

you really dont need any oversight!!! bad guys and criminals do NOT ever apply!!

look at VT.....no license at all...the places isnt going to pieces....

if the feds let you pass, thats enough for Alaska and VT.

I'd like to look more deeply into the process (after I get mine of course) because this has just been a slap in the face.
But you know how it is down here...if I were able to push it and get a few friends in Newsday or Channel 12 to get it some air time...
it would sound like this:
"Long Island School teach complains that it's too hard to get a gun".....

Right.....
