Just moved to NY...

Postby goodoldJC » Thu Sep 05, 2013 10:54 am

Hi All,

I just moved to Ithaca, NY from Bishop, CA (Eastern Sierra). Out there its all public, free roam, BML/USFS land and we were mostly jump shooting ducks on the Upper Owens River and hunting quail & chukkar in the mountains. I took a few trips up to the reservoirs in Tahoe and the reserves in the bay delta area, but I'm not too familiar with hunting the game reserves. Does anyone have suggestions on where I should go to get connected with the local hunting scene and/or clubs around my area? I've only been here a couple weeks, settling in, and haven't had much time to research whats going on out here in the East. Goose season has started and I can't help but feel that I'm missing out! Any suggestions or tips to help me get out and hunting would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Jon

Welcome to the forum, I'm about 2 hours from you. This will be my first year duck and goose hunting so I can't help you with locations, etc. but check out the DEC's website and go from there.
