Postby southpaw92 » Sat Sep 07, 2013 9:23 pm

Okay guys..
Ive been busting my butt all summer to find a spot to goose hunt... and well I finally found one... only issue is it is hay... and he's finishing cutting tomorrow... he has corn fields near him but there still up... will these birds come into hay. I have no idea what I'm doing...

So from a kid without a clue id appreciate any advice....

They will come into hay. Here all of the corn is still standing also. That leaves us to hunt clover, hay and alphalpha which is frustrating because it makes them difficult to pattern. There may be 100 geese in a field the evening prior and that morning the decoys get set up, blinds brushed in and ..nothing. they go somewhere else never to be seen in that field the rest of the year. If your options are limited and that's all you have , hunt it. It's better than sitting on the couch, but bare in mind that early season can be frustrating In the beginning.
