I find that green (not truly fresh cut, but certainly NOT seasoned) burns hotter, longer and slower than seasoned...
I will purposely throw a few in at night to cook like coal

I get a cord of unsplit logs about the diameter of a quart of paint.....then he takes logs like the diameter of a spackle bucket...splits it in half, then one of those halfs in half....so I have some jumbo all nighter logs and an assortment of other nice stuff..
