We are trying to plan on heading out to Lake Ontario over Christmas vacation (Dec 25-31) or sometime in the first week of January. I was searching the DEC website for WMAs on the south shore and came across "Lake Shore Marshes" we are thinking about going here but would like some info before we make 90 mile drive. Is there a lot of hunting pressure? What are numbers usually like out there in late December? Are the birds very leary around this part of lake? Is there any public hunting land accessible by shore? We don't have a very seaworthy craft, we have a 14 foot Jon boat, we are willing to go up to a mile in the boat to beat the crowds, I'm not asking for your honey hole, but could someone point me in the right direction to hopefully get on some birds?
Thanks a lot for your time,
