Pa duck hunter starting in NY

Postby creekkiller23 » Tue Nov 12, 2013 10:32 am

Hey guys I am PA resident and I have been hunting ducks for a few years now. My father just bought a piece of land in Smyrna NY. I have been scouting a lot of land out and there are some real nice creeks and I have seen some nice marshes as well. Since I hunt a bit of a warmer climate I do much more floating of creeks and river hunting. I was wonder if those same tactics apply for upstate New York duck hunting. In a few small pounds and Ben in fields I have seen a ton of woodys. Where do you guys recommend hunting in New York? Should I float the creeks like I do in pa? Or should I try and eat permission from the marsh lands and throw a deke set out?

Thanks
Jake

Go to the NY DEC website and look for public hunting oportunities.
There is alot more public land available geared towards waterfowl than in PA.
A little scouting and you will be set.
