I might go, but I'm not sure. Don't really like to fight the crowds for a fish that I don't really get that much enjoyment from catching. I don't find them that great to eat either so it is catch and release for me. I guess my only real motivation is spring fever and the need to get outside.

I went the 2 weeks after the season opened last year and caught plenty. I would guess they just stocked the area. Problem was they were all small fish and no challenge.

I curious what other's opinions are...

Trout are my favorite to fish for. I ususally sit out the first two or three weekends, and then when the opening day crowd loses interest start fishing heavy. This year I think I may head down to a stream that doesn't really get fished much for the opener though. Private land and all. Or I might go for some crappies.

You guys may want to try the upper end of Chittenango Creek. The crowds are a lot sparser if you stay away from the big pools. Not nearly like 9 mile. I have always done ok there and the area is gorgeous.

I'm in Caz, only a mile or so from Chittenango Creek. It is also were I do most of my trout fishing. If any of you guys want to get together sometime to fish let me know.

I definately will a little later in the season. I live right by Butternut, but don't fish it much.
