no beer until when?!!

Postby harvey1b » Fri Jun 29, 2007 7:46 am

What is the deal with no beer sales in NY until after 8 am? That is utterly ridiculous. I am having guests over tonight so this morning a little before 7 I went to Weg's to get stuff for the cook out - burgers, buns, etc. and while I was there I figured I'ld get some beer. WRONG!!!

Apparently in the Empire State it is more appropriate to drink beer in the mid to late morning or any time of day other than the early morning.

Mr Spitzer and I are going to have words. This makes no sense.

Think you're pissed? A couple years ago I drove to Green Hills down by Nedrow to get a couple six packs, They have a policy that they won't sell beer after something like 8 o'clock. I don't know if it's just fridays and saturdays or all week, but I walked by two managers with the beer in my hands and neither said a word. Also, it was 8:03 when I walked up to the register. I haven't shopped there since. I'll drive an extra ten or fifteen minutes to a Wegman's.

Harvey1b, you have to remember that we live in socialist New York State, and that if the Gov't decides that you can't buy beer before 8AM then it's for your own good. We are all obviously too dumb to make decisions for ourselves. Thank God for big gov't.

Seriously, why does it matter what time it is? I just don't get that.

YOU GOT TOO BE KIDDING!!!!!! Apparently you’ve been lying about your age, or haven’t you bought beer from a store before. A buddy of mine is going to name his boat 10 to 8. He seems to end up at the store at 10 to 8 before his fishing trips and has to wait.

:lol2: That's funny, and no I'm not kidding you. Bare in mind that after highschool I lived outside of NYS until about a year and a half ago, about 12 years or so.
