It's going to take me a week to get dry  Went out this morning (actually, I never went to bed). Went by myself, so I took the canoe. Birds took their time waking up this morning. I didn't see a duck until sun-up. The big ducks were flying high, but I talked with a guy I know who hunts the same area, and he said that someone must have gotten confused about the season dates, because someone was there hunting on Saturday  I managed one drake woodie, and should've had three more birds, but I didn't get to take the shots. I'm like the Keystone cops when I'm hunting, but I'll tell that story when I've got more time.

Don't have much to report today. One green head early on then it came down hard. Not even the crows were flying. The insides of my ears are still wet.

Saw a lot of birds in the timber but they didn't want to land in our hole. Managed two greenheads and a woodie between the two of us.

i went out around 3 in the afternoon, broke my motor by 3:06 and started rowing. by 3:09 i cracked the side of the boat from the flexing from me rowing.so i stupidly keep rowing and taking on water. then one of our great fellow hunters launches and comes up next to me as im still rowing and i ask what area hes going to so we wouldnt be too close and by around 4:00 i get set up. after he rallies every bird in about fifteen miles on his way out he decides to set up about 80 yards from me and starts skybusting. around 5:45 i picked up a little early and bailed the boat out again because i had a long row back. i then waited at the launch till 6:30 to see if this guy forgot to wear his hockey helmet out in the boat and i hear him still shooting.so i just left, a little wet and tired and birdless.but all in all not a bad day. oh yeah i managed to loose two of my new decoys somehow too.

Well the weather was about as ducky as it gets and the ducks acted that way. We took a bunch of little ducks early and when we realized we were going to limit out way too fast we decided it was time to get selective. Let birds play in the dekes all morning and ended up finishing with 7 mallards, 5 gw teal, 5 woodies and a black duck. Believe it or not we ended up with 3 bands, one mallard, a hen woody and a gw teal. I actually shot the band right off the hen woody, it fell off right into my hand when I picked her up a pellet hit the band and opened it up. One of the best hunts I've ever taken part of.
