First triple

Finally pulled out the layout boat I built three years ago and man was it fun. Talk about some up close and personal action, I think I found a new love. Sort of made me sad I hadn't tried it earlier. Had birds in the decks prior to LST less than 15 yards away with no issues. Had a flock come in a LST and dropped three of the five and recorded my first ever triple. Let the next two flocks roll through to see how they reacted to the lay out. By the time they flare (if they actually did) its way to late and they were well with in shooting range. Dropped my last bird at 710 and began picking up decoys. Managed 2 drake lesser scaup, 1 immature drake greater and unfortunately a hen. She was part of the triple and I just couldn't resist. Five shots and four birds, not bad.

Um, yes it is, had you said, three shots/four birds or maybe even four shots/four birds then at that point you could have had bragging rights. Get back in the layout and see if you paddle your way to Japan.

P.S. Thanks for the kill shots, I was starting to fiend over here waiting on them.

Didn't realize you had to go to the coast to diver hunt
Must have been doing it wrong all these years on the lakes.
FYI the blackheads have been in numbers since mid Nov...hate that you have missed over a month of great hunting.

So now AJ has killed 4 birds and 1 deer this year. Looks like he is on par for every other year I have seen him hunt.

Now you know he will get on here and try to disprove what I say by saying things like:

He killed 4 deer last year and I only killed 3 or,

My wife won't let me hunt past 9:30 in the morning or

I never can go out and scout with him because of family committments but

Don't you guys be fooled by the hype

I know it is easy to believe the worst but dig down deep and refrain from believe what he will come back and say
If you hunt WITH your children today, you won't hunt FOR them tomorrow

Congradulations on that triple...I think I only tripled three times in 43 years...and those were on doves.

You missed the best one out of them all - when you show up to pick him up to go hunting he usually just woke up and comes out in his blue camouflage boxers

Opportunities to hunt this year have been slim. The above hunt was only the second of the year. Since then I have added another 8 birds to the total on two more outings since I finally got some time to get out. So, that’s 12 birds (11 drake, 1 hen) total which I think is more than what you got all last year.
