Postby RiverRatWaterfowl » Sun Dec 22, 2013 3:07 pm

my family owns about 16 acres of swamp land/beaver ponds its full of wood ducks and in the late season its full of mallards and on each hunt you will see a few teal maybe 5-6 each hunt but i was just wondering do other ducks such has pintails and such come into areas like that or are those 3 kinds about the only that live in areas like that?

Blacks, ringnecks, and gray ducks are common with the occasional appearance of pins, bald plates, and sholvers.

Depends on where it is. there are swamps near here that I have hunted for many years. We have killed Wood Ducks, Mallards, Hooded Merganzers, Ring Necks and Geese. have never seen any other species. there are swamps I have hunted about 30 miles away (near some of the larger lakes) in which we have killed blacks, widgeon, GW Teal, & Gadwalls. Never killed or have seen a Pintail in any of these swamps. Eastern NC near I95. The situation changes near lakes and closer to the coast.
