Bluebills vs fog on Saturday

Postby RJ2549 » Sun Dec 22, 2013 10:11 pm

The fog won. We saw probably 100 ducks by 9:00 but they were either WAY to high, or a damn pelican was in the way, lol. We could barely see to the end of the decoys because of the fog. Across the river from us sounded like a war zone. I don't know if those guys were having luck getting them to come to the decoys or were just sky busting. Anyone else have fog issues?

Fog's all about being where they want to be. No one wanted to go sit in the fog with me Saturday, but I went anyway and could have filled the boat up. It was still worth it to see all those birds swim around in the decoys, just me and the dog.

3 blackheads and a green wing. Fog won though...the four of us should have shot 10+.

One of the best blackheads shoots I have ever had was in the fog. We were hunting a shoreline on a large bay and the best I can figure they were following that shoreline and would hit the rig when they saw it. The ones we could see farther out all I had to do was honk and they would turn and come.

That was a wicked fog and talk about FAC. Got a few shots off once the wind finally showed up after 3 hours and lifted some fog.

Thankful for the bluebills, but would love to see some other ducks some time. Mergs and boobies are only so much fun...
