I am looking in to booking a guided hunt for myself and my son, probably for next season. Any recommendations? North or South Carolina.

What about guides services? Never done this, so I was wondering who y'all would recommend for a good hunt. I have been looking around, but who have y'all used before? Any advice would be appreciated.

Check out Captain Gary's DownEast Guide Service. Have hunted with him a few times and have always had a great time. If you have any questions, pm me.

if you go w/Vic, I suggest a multi-day package...otherwise, in my opinion, you'll get hind teet on guides.

(he has several guides he farms you out to, each with varying locations/success rates)

as an aside you can freelance the Bodie Island draw hunts while you're down w/Vic...but don't expect much other than a place to float decoys unless the weather is sporty

I hunted with Vic's group last Friday and Saturday, this is my third year hunting with them and I highly recomend them.

Friday hunted up in Duck and we were limited out by noon with 6 Gadwalls, 4 teal, and 2 black ducks. Saturday hunted south of Rodanthe and were on our way to a 3 man limit of black heads and scooters but had to pull the plug at 11 due to overwash on 12 no one wanted to get stuck down there.

How are these guys with kids? I am looking for a good place to take my son. He is 10 right now, so he will have another year on him when we plan to go.

If you tell Vic you are bringing a kid they will make sure you are with the right guide. The guides I have hunted with Les, Jammie, and Lee would be great with kids they are all very calm in the blind explain things etc...

I went with Parkers Waterfowl on Dec 21 and limited out on Buffies in 2 1/2 hours on a day where temps were warm. The kids had a ball and the experience was very kid friendly.
