Nice cold morning hunt

Postby tenfingergrip » Tue Jan 07, 2014 6:12 pm

Coldest day of the year kept me in the bed this morning. I've got thin blood and don't hunt the impoundments anymore, but my son and his buddy decided to brave the elements and hit their drawn blind this morning. Said there were loads of widgeon and the brittle fingers managed to squeeze off enough shots to put 10 widgeon, a pintail and a gadwall on the hangar!

If you have been there you know that spot. Was there on the 28th and only picked up two, it was the only two I shot at. They just weren't flying good that day. Nice bag boys. Love those widgeon.

Too easy . . . a little cropping would have helped. Chances of being drawn for any managed public hunt decrease each year, especially with revealing photos.

But a great hunt non the less. I know they had fun with the wigeon ....

Birds were there last week too. Nice hunt and a good reason to be in the cold.

I didn't shoot wigeon there when I hunted. But know people who say its one of the better draws for wigeon late season. I'm glad they were succesfull
