OBX hunting

Postby jocopacker » Mon Jan 13, 2014 2:58 pm

Looking to go to the OBX on a one day hunt before the end of the season. Any suggestions? Not trying to step on anyone's toe's or anything just looking some advice if anyone has any to have a good day of hunting.

Pretty hard to do on your own without a lot of scouting or a guide. The guides are likely all booked up by now, but it wouldn't hurt to call around and ask. The birds are there for the taking though but again, it's a tough place to hunt on a whim. Are you at least familiar with the water and do you have a sea worthy boat?

I definitely understand that. Probably going on a wild goose chase but going to try anyway. Going to go the day before to do some scouting and get familiar with the water and hunt the next day. Thinking about Currituck sound, if got a buddy going with me that's been once before.

sounds sketchy to me, be careful. that "Ive got a buddy that's done it before" deal is about 50/50 in my experience

Know the county too. You may need a mythical float blind permit to hunt out of your boat.

Good luck with putting a boat in Currituck sound and "hunting".

Pretty sure that is a recipe for violation, can of whoop ass, or similar.

Know your laws before you go.
