Hello all, Ive been lurking for awhile, but finally decided to post up.
Anyhow Im thinking about giving waterfowl hunting a shot, I havent done it in about 18 years. anyways Im not asking for your sweet spots, but rather any advice that you think a newbie should know before giving it a whirl. I dont have a boat or access to one, but I will have a dog! thanks in advance

walk in places like swamps are your best bet. I don't know of any public ones.
Springing Flying Fish are good practice in the off season

Welcome, think about starting out with guided hunt. Hard to learn as much on your own as you will with experienced guide.
Also join Delta Waterfowl or DU committee and get to know some of the other hunters in your area.
Good luck and hunt safe.

Good idea for sure on getting on some birds, but be careful in the warm hunting months if you use a dog in swamps! Coastal areas swamps will hold gators and from what I hear they like dog. Never had it happen to me but have heard some bad stories. Good luck!
