Public Land Hunting

Postby mnhunter50 » Tue Nov 29, 2005 10:20 pm

I was wondering if there is good public land hunting and where. I also want to know when is the best time to go duck hunting. I would go up for a 3 day hunt next year and sleep in a hotel. Is there a lot of people hunting in the public lands and are people willing to let you hunt in there fields. I live in the metro part of MN and cant drive to the west part of the state so i am looking for mostly middle and easter Nortd Dakota public land.

You'll want to get yourself a PLOTS guide:

https://www.state.nd.us/gnf/info/plots.html

This will show all public lands.

There is a lot of public land, but not all of it is ideal for ducks. ND is a big state and most of it has waterfowl so you can really start anywhere. A tip is to watch this summer where the wettest areas are in the state and that's the best place to predict where to go.

Good luck.
