Hey all,
Well we got a place to stay in Grassy Butte finally, all we could find for the opener...Ive heard that the farther out west you go, the more upland and less waterfowl there is. Is this true? Is there anywhere close to Watford City where we could get on some ducks and geese?
What opener are you talking about? Pheasant or Waterfowl? If it's for waterfowl, you're going to be in for a surprise. Grassy Butte is known for it's upland and deer hunting, not for waterfowl.
You have a ways to go! The best would be to head up by the Canadian border and see what you can find up that way. If you are looking East, you'd be talking at least 100+ miles. Another is to head up to the big lake, aka Lake Sakakawea and see what you can find around there. Good luck
I am suprised you were able to find a spot to stay there with all the oil field activity. I would seriously reconsider your options if you are targeting waterfowl. With that being said, I have seen a decent number of ducks this year between Watford City and Bellfield. You will probably find some birds to shoot and I cannot imagine you would have much pressure to deal with.
