Waterfowl Back!

Postby h2oski » Tue Mar 18, 2008 7:41 am

I saw 2 ducks and about a dozen Canada geese on Sunday. They will have a long wait for open water I am afraid. Devils Lake is reporting 43-45 inches of ice. I am sure smaller ponds and such will start opening up and a few runoff rivers.

Nice for spring to finally arrive here. It has been a cold winter.

I started seeing my first Canadas around the GF area this past weekend. I haven't seen any ducks yet.

Yeah, the ice will be on the lakes for a little while...although it always amazes me at how fast it can dissapear. There's always some sheetwater and runoff for them. The snows should be here soon.

Thank God for spring! I'm getting worse at handling winters every year it feels like.

My wife has talked me into going to Phoenix these past 3 years in January/Feb. Coming back just about killed me. I love our winters, but this past January didn't even allow me to walk my 2-4 miles each night.

This is the 15th day of constant canada flocks coming over, with the exception of periods of heavy snow or wind.

Snow geese were here in pretty good numbers but tumbled back to Sodak Friday/Satureday - starting to come back again though.

Coming through SD there was a lot of geese around Watertown. With the right temps they should be here soon.

From the reports I've heard, there's snows across most of the state right now. I'll have to make it out this weekend.

Yeah, it's been at least that long. But why change it now? People see it and know it's me.
