I've spent the last week sitting in a tree stand hoping that some deer would be dumb enough to come within 70 yards of me; the whole time I'm sitting there I grow increasingly worried that the temperature is going to plummet and freeze over my few water holes and end my first year as a waterfowler. Dammit, ducks are just more fun and intellectual. I'm officially hooked.

That being said, what the hell do I do now that the water is freezing????? I'm scared as hell.

A word of advice, wear thin layers while breaking ice. You'll be sweating in no time.

Chainsaws work quick but I don't recommend it as it leaves a lot oil on the water. Just not good.

Weren't you hunting a river or creek next to a pasture?
