Split Timing

Postby vtcupped'n'locked » Mon Oct 22, 2012 10:07 am

Well looks like the season will end just in time for the "ducky" weather to show up next week.... not sure how I feel about 75 and sunny this week......

I've only busted down a Woody and Mallard Drake to date. One at sunrise and one at sunset. Need water in the wetlands. If temps stay warmer but wet for a few weeks at least we'll draw the local birds out. Like to get that and the some cold temps mid-late November. WOrse thing that could happen is a dry fall and then freeze. Seen it happen.

Looks like I'll be at Magee Saturday morning at the onset of the cold front. Be interesting to see if it has any affect that quickly. Reports from up there have been weak.

Geese will still be open in the South Zone for another couple of weeks,(Nov 11th) I saw a ton of them down there on Sunday.

One out of the 350ish I saw flew by and it apeares as though he was bullet proof.
If you see the ammo in my avatar on sale anywhere, please let me know, thanks.

No doubt. I was thinking last night how long the splits are and where weather can play such a big damned role in our seasons.

Then wondered how the same days distributed in 2 week blocks might work rather than consecutive weeks, especially in the longer second split.

Just praying it stays decent from now till the 24th. What is people experience, is the second split opener as popular as the first, or does it calm down a bit. Had almost zero competition at the public spots I hunted, did not mess with opening weekend though...

Yes - it calms down a lot. Knowing where you spent some time - that gets even quieter.
