Waterfowler's bootcamp get a name change.

Postby don taylor » Fri Mar 15, 2013 6:00 am

I guess now it's Waterfowler's bootcamp and Outdoor festival.

I have a feeling the scene is going to change there. Bringing in Amish furniture and jam makers is going to begin to nudge the waterfowlers out. I liked knowing that when I drove there, I would be greeted with aisles of duckin' gear, not Jerky makers and fly fishing guides.

I' be okay with Belly dancers, midgets and circus clowns, but when they start having jerky, jam and wind chimes every other booth, separated with Ontario and Mexican fly fishing guided, I'm not making the trip.

Growing isn't always good, not when the growth is only for the sake of growth. Grow the appeal to waterfowling companies and get more of them there. Turn it into a deer expo and Jelly outlet, just to increases attendance and I'll call it a mistake.. It was one of two shows in the tristate area that was all ducks. Pymie's DU expo is the other. Now, I'll just stick to pymie.

Cool - we're all good with the belly dancers. :lol3:

I was just wondering how you knew about the booth sponsors beyond the waterfowl stuff? I personally wouldn't mind those huge Turkey Drums but agree on wind chimes.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

I found out because I follow the OWA on facebook and commented on the status announcing it. I said the same thing I said there, here.

Sorry Don - I'm not questioning what you're saying I just wondered if you actually saw or heard what types of vendors where being added this year to make it a 'festival'. I might have missed it in the flyer posted.

I don't FB so it's hard to research sometimes. We finally got a Cabelas in Central Ohio (which is a far sight better than Gander Mountain). Waterfowling is so weak around here I'm guessing Cabelas will get trafficked and might take shine off Bootcamp attendance for locals. Am sure it will if this becomes an "outdoor' festival.

I live 10 minutes from the Columbus Cabelas so I have been there a few times to pick up stuff I shipped to the store, but I would recommend not making a special trip there.
