Goose Band info back

Postby Boomn4x4 » Sat Nov 04, 2006 12:47 pm

We got our band info back already from the opener two weeks ago. I little surprised to say the least. One was a year old and banded in Indiana, the otherwas the big shocker. The band was word down pretty bad so we knew it was old. Turned out to be just over 11 but the big surprise was that it was banded in Castalia, only about 15 miles from where it was shot. I'd imagine he was a resident, but I was surprised that in 11 years he never went far.
I love my job, it fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours.

They've actually outlawed feeding ducks at the duck pond. There are still some birds in there, but no where near what there used to be. I've heard mixed reviews on the fallout of that. Some guys are pissed because it's not drawing in as many ducks as it used to. Some guys are happy becuase the ducks are now going to out to Resthaven.

Chillicothe's got a similar situation a park in town holds hundreds of geese and everything from mallards to widgeons ,and woodies then there's the manmade lake along 23 south 35 acres that thousands of ducks and geese rest up on ,no one is allowed to hunt there but thats ok a nice roost and I think they know theyr'e safe because they land and hang out all day even when frozen over ,just leave long enough to feed
