northern ohio duck season

Postby mgloyd61 » Tue Nov 18, 2008 2:30 pm

If anyone is on here that is hunting the northern part of Ohio I just would like to know how the season is going up there. I hunt the south zone and the early part of our season was terrible with the summer temps. Hoping for a better 2nd half.
It dont get any better than greenheads and great friends.

I hunt the southwestern part of the north zone and south zone. We have done pretty good here lately on ducks but the geese have fallen off. We had shot as many geese as we had ducks up until a week from last sunday on GLSM.
I got a nice drake Redhead this past sunday and we had 3 Redheads, 8 buffies,2 mallards,2 bills and 2 geese this past sunday.

We hunt the central part in the pickaway county area the nearest city would be circleville. The Scioto River is the main draw in this area but we also hunt some fields and a small pond.

We hunted the fields in the early part of the season and only killed 6 geese and 6 mallards. The river usually doesnt get really good until the ponds and other small bodies of water start to freeze up which is normally in the second half. Hopefully this weather we are having now doesnt push all the birds through the state before Dec 6th.
