Has Anyone Seen Any Pintails?

Postby perkins_quack_addict » Fri Jan 19, 2007 9:25 pm

I've been duck hunting for 5 years and I have bagged nearly every rare duck. But I have never got a Pintail. Has anyone got one this season?

Not this season, but when Hulah lake has plenty of water, we used to see them all the time over there.

I have seen 1 pintail this season, a little out of range for a shot though. In 2001, there were pintails all over the place, saw a lot of them. Last season didn't see any at all.

Hulah is in the northern part of the state......if you know where Bartlesville is, it is northwest of bartlesville.....about 45 minutes. It can offer some great hunting when the lake is up, but it is about 4 feet down as of now.
I have shot 4 pintails, but only 2 of them were drakes. Had a real nice drake in the freezer, waiting for the money to get it mounted and we had a power outage and it thawed and got nasty.

If you want to shoot pintails come to Lake Texoma, they are every where. We hunted the west end up the Red River and shot 3 drakes. We hunted this last weekend and shot 2 drakes on the east end of the lake.

Up here in KS there all over one of our main marshes ''Cheyenne Bottoms''. At the begineen of the season we had over 200,000 ducks, and over 100,000 geese.
