Washita Refuge geese hunts

Postby OkieDuckFever » Wed Oct 30, 2013 1:21 pm

We drew a couple of blinds for Washita Refuge/Foss Lake goose hunts, the first two weekends November 16-17th and the 23rd-24th. Has anyone ever participated in the controlled geese hunts there?

I read all their regulations like only be allowed 25 shells per person, 3 people per blind, everyone leaves the blinds at 11:30, can't shoot ducks, can shoot sandhills if the are present..etc Really not sure what to expect since we have never hunted it before. Any additional info would be appreciated.

Don't shoot the whooping cranes, the swans, or the eagles.
The rangers there will cause you considerable inconvenience if you do.

I've heard the owls are legal there though.

Hunted there many times. Most of the time successful, but a lot depends on which blind you draw and wind direction.

What blind number did you draw?
Lady walks into a bar with a duck, BARTENDER: "Hey, get that old coot out of here"
LADY: "That's not a coot, it's a duck!"
BARTENDER: "I was talking to the duck!"
