Arkansas Invasion

Postby redhead4151 » Tue Jan 14, 2014 5:54 pm

So I went to one of my favorite WESTERN Oklahoma hunting locals the other day to find some our buddies from the east shooting OUR ducks. I don't know what the deal is cause I thought they had the duck capital mother land whatever over in their state. I think people are starting to figure out our secrets…….

P.S. GO HOME!!!!!!! :hi:

Where is this article. I didn't see it?
I went to school in Arkansas and the way they talk about their hunting being soooo superior I can't figure out why they'd drive all the way to western Oklahoma to duck hunt?

I have a dream, a dream where one day a hunter is not judged by the state on his or her license plate, but by their reluctance to sky bust, not to set up down wind, and propensity to leave a public hunting area with less trash in it when they leave. I have a dream...

Well on the left side of my post it says "Fayetteville, AR" but I suppose that isn't descriptive enough, at least in a geographical context for you.

If you like I'll stand at attention and yell "Greenbo Alabama, Drill Sergeant!"

I'll leave the grammatical incompetence in your comprehension of the word 'you're' alone as a courtesy.

Unfortunately an NWR a little ways from the border, which is hunted by 90%+ AR, has given them a bad name. They have basically turned it into the OK version of Bayou Meto. I have encountered a few normal ones there but it always amazes me at how the vast majority of them behave.
I can sorta understand them hunting there since it's a decent drive from Ft. Smith, but the ones I come across much farther west is kinda baffling. Not judging them or labeling them, just confuses me as to why one would drive that far from AR.
We have more than our share of resident idiots here, I will readily admit that, but at the NWR I previously mentioned, the amount/% of idiots from AR really makes them look bad. I have been to some of the most infested resident OK yahoo areas, and only one of them could even possibly compare.
My point is, I can see where people are coming from when they make generalizations about this, it's not purely from the state on the license plate. Not saying that it's ok to label all of them, but our eastern neighbor does have a reputation/tendancy for yahoos, and most people I have hunted with are a little leery/cautious when they first see an AR plate, until they see how they behave. Just like the Iowa hunters at Kaw who have earned the reputation they have.

This is true! Between ducking with DW and visiting friends in Tulsa about once a month I'm about to enroll in PikePass so I can just blast through that friggin toll station on 412! That change machine is not real reliable at 0-dark-thirty!
