Shipping a firearm

Postby micneador » Sat May 17, 2014 3:47 am

Do you have to go from ffl to ffl? Or yourself to ffl?

As well, how much do you guys think it'll cost?

FFL to FFL will be the cheapest. If you try to go through UPS or Fedex you can only do it through a main facility and they will charge you an arm and a leg. The dealer I have used in the past was like $40 for a handgun, not sure if long gun was less expensive or more.

Thanks ss, it's my benelli m2. Trying to figure out how much to add to the price since it seems nobody in Oklahoma wants mine.

I ship a lot of guns and just from me to the FFL. I do have to take it to the local UPS hub as you can't do it at a typical retail outlet.

For a long gun shipping is typically around $20 or so. I shipped a Marlin Super Goose bolt action 10 gauge to California for about $22 if I remember correctly.

Good luck.

Hmm, maybe it's just handguns that are expensive for UPS. To ship a revolver it would've been $90 for me, that was about a year ago.

Was that including insurance?

Yeah it was for $500 insurance, which I think is mandatory but not 100% sure on that

That's the discrepancy in pricing then, they didn't make me do insurance though?

Hand guns are different as I think that they have to be sent next day air. Also stay away from fedex when shipping guns. Ups is the cheapest as I went to FedEx once and they wanted $90 to go to Arkansas. I think they require next day on all guns.

I am shipping a gun probably this week or early the next. I will let you all know how much it is.
