Hi, I hunt in the mid valley area and have acces to land on the pudding river near the mouth into the molalla, my question is, should I put my spread on the river or is that not doable? My aunt and uncle own a pond 1-200 yards away, should I just hunt there? how many decoys? Any input would be appriciated.
I would scout it, when the season is closer.
If the birds want the river, make it work. If the birds come into the pond that would probably be better because there won't be any driftboat traffic.
My guess is you'll start the season with wood ducks.
I would scout. You could very well have a honey hole later in the season. I hunt private land off the pudding and I typically do well when the water is high or lots of sheet water on the farm :grooving:
