The Biggest Duck Hunting Event This Fall: Sat. October 20th

Postby DVRDCK » Wed Sep 19, 2012 10:35 am

Ducks Unlimited works for Oregon duck hunters like no other waterfowl conservation group. Only DU performs habitat conservation both in our state and on the breeding grounds where our annual migration originates. Please join Ducks Unlimited in celebrating its 75th Anniversary next month in Beaverton. This is going to be a historic, memorable event. If you have never attended a DU banquet before they are great fun and you'll meet a lot of other passionate hunters like yourself.

Please make your reservations to attend the Beaverton Ducks Unlimited banquet on Saturday, October 20th, by making your reservations here:

Hate to burst your bubble but their is a little organization known as Delta Waterfowl that works both in OR state as well as the breeding grounds. I don't want to start a battle of DU or Delta but I hate to see one organization make claims that aren't true. I personally will not attend another DU banquet again in OR after seeing thousands of my dollars go into DU and none going back into the area the money was raised.

Just my 2cents.

Hmmmm interesting opinion. I especially like the fact that you are concerned about the virtue of complete accuracy and honesty in representation yet follow that up with a blatent inaccuracy. Apperently virtue dosen't even last a paragraph anymore. Actually considering this is the political season that does make sense.

So lets see, historically OR DU generates $500,000 dollars in fundraising and historically $3 million dollars of project work is done annually in OR. There are currently over 80 projects in process in OR right now. Almost 100,000 acres has been restored and over $45 million has been spent by DU in OR.

So lets re-examine the above statement. You have the preception of the THOUSANDS of dollars you have spent in OR for DU went some where else when in reality you got a $6 dollar return for every $1 dollar you spent in OR. Way to go buddy and the great state of OR, the duck hunters in it, and the ducks owe you a great big THANK YOU.

Go back and read it again. I highlighted it for you.

Well, besides the fact that the closest "project", by DU, to where I live, was a duck club not open to the public, I'll be in Wyoming hunting elk....again. :hi:

Yeah. There's this club I go to once in a while. They have signs on the way to the hunting spots that say "DU grant" or something like that. Club members pay money every year to hunt there. I researched it--they got a big DU grant to improve the place.

I'm all for habitat restoration and all that, but DU projects on private land that DU members (or anyone, for that matter) can't access without paying a club fee? I guess, I should just join the club, right--isn't that the same as supporting DU?

I contacted 'tripleb56' immediately after he posted his response to respectfully ask him to delete his reply and am disappointed that he did not respect my wishes.

The purpose of this post was not to debate the merits of either organization. If 'tripleb56' must express his opinion, and I told him that he should, but do so on a new forum of his own and not within a post about a fundraising event.

I did not wish for this forum post to get sidetracked in rebuttals for and against his post, which unfortunately is exactly what has happened.

Chad,
sorry for the hijack of your thread. Your right, there are more appropriate times and places to have the above discussion.
