There are 2 entities that are referenced when referring to Bag Limits. The state enforces all bag / possession limits on Upland Game and the Fed's are responsible for Migratory Birds. Both have different definitions of when game is no longer counted against your possession limit.

The state defines when an animal is processed for consumption and placed in the freezer it no longer counts against your possession limit.

The feds define when a duck is consumed it will no longer be held against your possession limit. So you could only have 3 days of limits in your freezer. You would have to eat 6 in order to shoot 6 more.

Ducks that have been processed for consumption that are in your freezer count against your possession limit. Possession ends when the bird ceases to exist as such -- i.e,, the duck is consumerd and the remaining parts are discarded. Simply processing the birds for consumption does not constitute an end to possession.

***Legally you can give birds, as gifts, to others in your household with proper documentation.

For example: The daily bag limit is 6 and possession limit is 18...if you have 4 other family members you can legally possess 90 birds with proper documentation.

as long as that is all you have. Possession limits do not end at domicile by the federal regs. They are trying to change that, or so I've heard. They just weren't able to push it through this year. It's actually kind of rediculous not to end it at domicile. It's just another one of those regs that were fashioned to target market hunting, that is still left on the books after all these years.

It's actually kind of ridiculous not to end it at domicile. [/quote]

X2...they need to change that law. IMO if there's a law on the books that's almost impossible to enforce it shouldn't be there.
