Migration Report

Postby sprigkillerII » Sun Nov 24, 2013 8:32 am

Had to work hard for limits yesterday in the lower Willamette valley...all red legged Mallards ( if that really means anything). According to the DU websites migration report looks like a lot of birds are on the way.

Just curious if people are seeing large numbers yet?? I don't need your location. Maybe your part of the state...

Anybody seeing big flocks if Pintail yet? seen several groups of 50 to 100 but that's it.....more and more wigeon.

Eugene area public land, did really well this weekend. This is the first weekend I've seen migration birds other than teal
Nobody cares about your season totals. Especially if you pay to hunt private.

Lots of new birds in NW Washington. We have had very good shooting in the area. Still a ton of birds across the boarder in B.C. in the Fraser Valley.

Mallards in in the valley seem to be increasing daily...A quick 70 mile loop of scouting and it's apparent that cold air from the north pushed some birds down.. Now if we could just get some rain, water levels are low. If we could get a good amount a rain in a short amount of time it would open up so much feed for these birds it could be a stellar last half of the season....

Do the rain dance people

A few Mallards, Pintail, widgeon showing up at Wickiup. Heard a few shots from crane prairie sunday and off the rivers. Buffel head are around with a few Golden eye in the channels. Pretty good numbers of Canada but that has dropped some. Might just be no one hunted Davis or they where on the ice and the Eagles where not hungry. Saw 4-5 eagles on Wickiup But they where not working the birds hard. Full bellies I guess. Out again tomorrow I hope. Warmer today so Ice should be off the lake again.

Hey that's awesome. I go over there all the time to visit my dad in Adrian. Without giving away your honey hole, can you tell me if you were hunting private land or public and is the Snake good now? I was over there a few weeks ago and saw few ducks and very few pheasants....

The cold air we had was either a bust or the birds kept moving to California, had a few good shoots around the valley early last week now every day seems to be getting a little slower. Many reports coming from the north are showing low numbers in most places. There is good hunting if you can get access to private land.. the overall numbers are just low though.
